Hi everybody,
It's far too late now for me to wish you a Happy New Year, but... well, you know. I hope it's going great for you so far.
Whilst there's not a huge amount to report at the moment, I thought I'd drop a blog nonetheless. (Ooh, that sounds horrid!) Plans for 2025 are continuing to progress, and I hope to be able to let you know soon about a rather exciting
project that I'm working on with another (non music-related) artist. Otherwise, I'm beavering away at chasing and booking gigs for the months ahead.
On that score, in fact, if any of you know of a venue in your part of the world that you think might be happy to host the likes of me, please do feel free to drop me a name, and I'll take a look. Equally, you perhaps know of my penchant for a house gig, so if hosting such an event might be of interest to you, let me know and we can talk. They don't require huge, sprawling spaces and can work well in many a modest-sized room. Anyway... just a thought.
Speaking of which, you may recall that I was due to play a sold-out house concert in early December here in the North East. Sadly, we had to postpone it as I was very unwell at the time. It's happening this Thursday (23rd Jan.) but unfortunately a handful of folks are unable to make the new date. The gig's in Seaton Sluice near Whitley Bay, so if anyone is interested in grabbing a space or two, drop me a line.
Beyond that, I'm returning to play Prohibition in Newcastle on 31st Jan., Hyde's Bar near Stockton-on-Tees on 9th Feb. (covers), and the glorious White Room Music Cafe in Stanley on 28th Feb. Full details of these shows are on the Events page.
Finally, in light of shifts at Meta regarding fact-checking and such, I've recently alluded to leaving Facebook and affiliated platforms. This is something that I'm still considering how to navigate. However, there are no immediate plans on my part, and I'll give fair-warning if/when the decision is made, but it's difficult at present for me to be as loyal to my convictions as I might otherwise like to be. It's a complicated matter, I know, with no easy right or wrong path to follow. Anyway, I thought I would mention it now whilst it was on my mind.
OK then... I think that's about it for now. Once again, this year looks like being an 'interesting' one. Wherever you are, and whatever your circumstances, I hope you can ride it out and keep working towards something better, in however small or big a way you can. And if you need a little musical accompaniment along the way, you know where I am.
